Lost Lyrics is a mobile and innovative space empowering young people through arts-based education. Self-empowerment is integral to Lost Lyrics as students define the curriculum and create a space somewhere between the streets and their ideal classroom, reinforcing a positive and reflective self-image. The themes and activities we explore help challenge young people’s understanding of their complex surroundings so they can learn to be critical thinkers and access support while navigating the school system, media, peer circles, culture and communities.
Lost Lyrics is an alternative educational space that utilizes innovative arts-based curriculum to explore empowerment within Diasporic communities. Self-empowerment is integral in our curriculum and mandate. Moving past the black board-and-chalk, lecture-and-notes style of teaching, Lost Lyrics is a space that searches to create a bridge between the streets and the classroom.
